Sometimes an impromptu staycation is just what the doctor ordered! We had the pleasure of staying at the Melrose Georgetown Hotel in Washington D.C. for a little parents staycation.
As parents, it is hard to make time for ourselves. It’s rare for us to getaway but the Mr. and I got a sitter and headed into the city for some R&R! It’s nice to get away from your everyday routine and explore your own city.
Melrose Georgetown Hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel in DC’s West End/Georgetown right in the heart of our Capital. It is in walking distance to trendy restaurants, shopping, museums and landmark attractions like Georgetown University, the National Mall, Kennedy Center, Lincoln Memorial, White House and the Potomac Riverfront.
This iconic hotel offers beautifully designed luxury rooms and suites with amazing views. Their rooms are spacious and offer comfort with pillow top mattresses, flat screen tvs and mini fridges.
We were greeted to some delicious vino and treats. We couldn’t wait to kick off our shoes, have a glass of vino, and relax in our cozy room.
We walked around Georgetown a bit, but we were excited to check out the lobby bar, The Lounge before dinner at Jardeana!
After cocktails we walked over to the romantic lit restaurant, Jardenea which name comes from the French word for “garden”.
We were excited to try this farm to table restaurant. Executive Chef Nelson Erazo creates globally influenced cuisine made from the freshest organic and local ingredients. Their menus change with what’s in season and reflect regional flavors.
There are many restaurants in the area, but honestly I wouldn’t leave the hotel to dine. We were so impressed with every plate that came out. Everything from appetizers to our entrees to dessert was superb and the service was phenomenal. We are definitely coming back for dinner soon. Eric and I love heading to National Theater for date nights. We learned that they offer an amazing pre-theater 3 course meal for $49.
What we ate for dinner:
Head to the Lounge if you want to try amazing artisan cocktails. You can taste the passion their bartenders have for the art of mixing and infusion. If you’re in DC you’ll definitely want to stop by to try some of their handcrafted cocktails or stay for dinner too either way, you will not be disappointed. Everything from the beautifully decorated space to the handcrafted cocktails to the savory meals and divine desserts made it a perfect ending to the perfect day!
Breakfast in Bed
It was amazing to sleep through the night without toddler wake-up calls. We were greeted to the sweet sound of peace and quietness and a delicious breakfast in bed. If only every morning there could be breakfast in bed.
I love the chic decor and all of the hotel aesthetics! As soon as you walk in the Lobby you see a beautiful bar, there is a library seating area and more cozy seating throughout the lobby. You can sit and enjoy a handcrafted cocktail, read a book or just relax and people watch.
We were so sad to say goodbye but we can’t wait to stop by and stay again soon. Thank you again Melrose Georgetown Hotel!
